HOW AWARE ARE YOU?

Women in the United States get breast cancer more than any other type of cancer except for skin cancer. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women.

Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will not survive. And breast cancer is not exclusive to women. Approximately 1,700 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. The evaluation of men is similar to that in women, including mammography. Early detection is the key to surviving breast cancer. If caught early, the breast cancer survival rate is 98 percent. If diagnosed late, the survival rate drops to 27 percent. The best way to detect breast cancer early is through awareness education, and regular mammograms. Awareness saves lives.

For this reason Awareness Awards is a proud sponsor of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, leading the battle towards early detection through education and providing mammograms for those in need. Each year hundreds of charity golf tournaments raise funds for breast cancer awareness and to find a cure. When you choose Awareness Awards for your tournament needs, whether it be a charity event or not, you help in our support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and to creating hope for those who detect their cancer in its earliest of stages.

All of us have in some way been touched by breast cancer, whether you may be a survivor yourself, or certainly by knowing someone close to us that has been affected by this disease. Please join us in our efforts to create awareness of breast cancer and of saving lives.
